2009 Grenache
Colour
Bright ruby and cherry red with youthful purple hues.
Bouquet
Mint and spicy wild cherry. A very vibrant Grenache with sweet mulberry fruit as well.
Palate
Full bodied with intense flavours of cassis and plums, which are well complimented by traces of pepper and spice. This Grenache has a strong concentration of fruit flavour highlighted by a sweetness which goes perfectly with the firm yet subtle tannins.
Winemaking
Fruit was picked at optimum ripeness from a single vineyard located in McLaren Vale then fermented at arm temperatures. Following fermentation, the wine was put into older, French barrels to add a very slight oak smoothness but to retain its fresh varietal fruit flavours.
Cellaring
Fresh Grenache fruit and palate sweetness make this wine beautiful to drink now, however cellaring over the next 7-10 years will produce a more savoury and complex wine for those patient enough to wait.
